The Fairfield County incident happened on Wednesday, Aug. 23 in Darien, according to Darien Police.

Just before 1:30 a.m. on that day, officers reported seeing a car, operated by 58-year-old Louisiana resident Daniel Pomroy, driving west on Post Road near Sedgwick Avenue with one headlight burnt out.

After pulling him over, police said that they could immediately smell alcohol.

Pomroy did not pass the field sobriety test and agreed to take a breathalyzer test at the station.

At 2:15 a.m., 45 minutes after he was pulled over, Pomroy’s blood alcohol content was .1948, just over two times over the legal limit of .08.

He is charged with operating under the influence and driving without headlamps.

Pomroy was released on 10 percent of his bond and is due back in court on Friday, Sept. 1.
